Things about Pets

Things about Pets
Parrotlet
Ricco, 5 yrs old.
Parrotlet (pronounced "parrot-let" little parrot).
What a wonderful little bird ! Less than 6 inches in length.
Ricco is a Forpus: Pacific blue wing and green hump.
Parrotlets can learn to talk and are very loving pets.
Some say they have a 70 word vocabulary.
Ricco can say Hello Popeye and Pretty pretty ricco and he loves
to make the sound of my electric toothbrush.
With their wonderfully outgoing personalities, adorable-size,
colorful plumage, comical behavior and quiet voice, parrotlets
are quickly becoming one of the most sought-after small pet parrots.
Less than six inches in length, be assured that parrotlets are true parrots, with
all of the virtues and some of the vices. The more time you spend with him the more he learns.

Peach-faced lovebird have lively, inquisitive personalities, and handfed

Popeye, 5 yrs.
Peach-faced lovebird have lively, inquisitive personalities, and handfed babies
that are properly socialized can make delightful pets. It is not necessary to keep
Lovebirds as pairs.lovebirds are one of the most popular groups of birds
available to pet owners. While inquisitive, lovebirds possess no talking ability,
but make excellent pets and it is not unusual for them to live longer than ten years.
I had a pair that used to say "stop it". It was adorable. Popeye has splayed legs and a
crooked beak, I took him because no one else wanted him.

Things about Jack Russells

Jack Russell has traditionally been a "working terrier."

Terrier work required a dog that barked at prey so that the dog could be located underground
and be dug out if necessary; because of this, Jack Russell Terriers were bred to be very vocal dogs,
and excellent diggers. Jack Russell Terriers are also very intelligent, protective, fearless,
high-energy dogs. Terriers whose owners typically were not aware that Jack Russells are
not "docile" dogs and could not meet these requirements.
Rescue networks have to work constantly to find foster and permanent homes for Jack Russells.

Things about Red Ear Sliders

Thelma has a 9X9 pond.
Female RES grow to be 10-12 inches in length and males 8-10 inches.
They are almost entirely aquatic, but do leave the water to bask in the sun and lay eggs.
These reptiles are deceptively fast and are also excellent swimmers. They are very aware
of predators and people and generally shy away from them. In fact, the RES frantically slide
off rocks and logs when approached - hence the name. RES do not produce saliva, most aquatic
turtles have a fixed tongue and this is the reason they must eat their food in water.
Important FACT !
Please Please Please - Your turtle will not live without these things !
Provide your turtle with a basking rock and basking light, the shell will turn to mush.
Make sure he has enough water, turtles cannot eat out of water !
Please provide adaquate water and filter for your turtle !
People buy these poor little turtles because they are so cute, then when they get big and they
start outgrowing everything they want to get rid of them. Sometimes they are released in a
neighborhood pond. There are so many homeless turtles that people do not want that Matts
rescue can barely keep up with finding them homes.
Visit http://www.matts-turtles.org/ for adoption information.
