Garrett County Parks
Swallow Falls State Park - 257 acres of Maryland's most breathtaking waterfalls. Muddy Creek Falls
is a crashing 53-foot waterfall – a spectacular sight. The Youghiogheny River flows along the park's borders.
Hike the trails through Swallow Falls guide and see the most breath-taking scenery in Western Maryland.
Pets are not permitted in the day use area from the Saturday before Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Pets are permitted in the surrounding areas of Potomac/Garrett State Forests. Pet campsites are available.
During the off-season pets are permitted in the day use areas provided they are kept on a leash.
Pet owners must clean up after their pets
Deep Creek Lake State Park - Over 1,818 acres of camping, swimming, picnicking, boat launching,
hiking, and a variety of recreational opportunities in this beautiful resort area.
Pets are allowed on trails and must be kept on a leash.
Big Run State Park - 300 acres of rustic camping opportunities
Pets are allowed anywhere in the park as long as they are on a leash under control of the owner and not
disturbing other park visitors.
Herrington Manor State Park - Situated in the middle of Garrett State Forest,
features a 53-acre lake and many wooded trails.
Pets are not permitted in or around the cabins at any times.
Pets are welcome in the Day Use area ONLY between Labor Day and Memorial Day weekend.
They are also welcome on the hiking trails in Garrett State Forest year round.

Casselman River Bridge State Park - four acres east of Grantsville on U.S. Route 40.

New Germany State Park - 455 acres include trails for hiking in summer and cross-country skiing in winter.

Trash Receptacles
To deter Garrett County Wildlife including black bears, please make sure all garbage is placed in
garbage bags and then secured inside of the receptacles.
State Park Passes: State Park Passes are provided for each reservation.
This pass allows you free admittance to each of Garrett County’s State Parks.
Deep Creek Lake State Park, Swallow Falls State Park, Herrington Manor State Park, Garrett State Forest,
New Germany State Park, Big Run State Park, Cassleman River Bridge State Park,
Mt Nebo Wildlife Management Area, and Savage River State Forest.
